Lee
You are probably the most likely person to know, since you have had your issues with electrics on the Bird.

Before I strip down the whole harness, can you tell me where the junctions marked with red arrows are located ?

The injector harness can be found under the fuel tank, I think both T off the harness on the RH side. The O2 sensors wiring are a bastard to find, I think they can be found on the LH side under the front of the engine, tucked up out of the way. Very awkward place.

I'm not sure if the pink and brown wire that comes from the EMS relay travels throughout the main harness and then junctions off to the required components. It may mean unwrapping some insulation here and there to track it, probing with a multi meter isn't ideal as you would know. I've come across some weird stuff in that harness such as earth wires just twisted together, PeteronKarra may have some input as he has done a complete harness swap.

Found the junction, together with a a further bunch. They where located between the the Y at the end of the tank in the back, and the MAP sensors in front. All of them where in good condition, crimped together, but as a precaution, I solder them all.

According to the Fluke, all is okay, but as you point pout Lee, it can't be trusted.

So the search go on.

Good luck Kim, electrical issues can be frustrating.

So finally got it figured out.

Symptoms : Bike would not start after winter storage. Ignition ok, Power to injectors ok. No errors.

Meassure compression, 11 bar on each cyl., ok.
Tested fuel pressure, 3 bar, ok.
Removed injectors and tested them with 12V, clicking, must be ok.
Tested injectors if they where blocked, in open condition (12V), ok.

I was sure it was sort of an electrical problem, corrosion maybe in crimps etc.
Found nothing, all okay, bugger.

Focused on the injectors again. Maybe they only appeared to be working.
I was on the brink to go to the Injector specialist, when I remembered someone mention cleaning injectors with ultrasound.
Put the injectors in my ultrasound cleaner, liquid being 50% gasoline, 50% injector cleaner, left them there for 2 hours, fitted them again.

Bike started at the first push of the button. What a relief.

So what did I learn from this :
Already last season, the bike started run uneven, stuttering at low rpm, etc.
Injectors partly clocked
That alone should have pointed me in the right direction, but sometimes you just get tunnel vision, don't see the real problem.

Anyway, problem solved, looking forward to a nice and long riding season.

Great result Kim, at least you know that your electrical system is A1

I am religious about liqui moly ever since you told me about it ! Not taking your own advice? I'll never forget the first time i used it after maybe 60k on the clock and literally 1/2 way thru the first tankfull it started to feel like almost instantly 10 more HP kicked in ! It no longer has that effect because i use it regularly now, but it definitely is regular maintenance for me ever since, and the only snake oil i ever tried that turned out to NOT be snake oil.

Daz, you are right.
I have neglected my own advise, will take it up again.
Have ordered 5 cans of Liqui Moly Injector cleaner.

I just went for the first real ride of the season today and threw 1/2 a can in the tank. Also used Stabil while the bike was in hibernation. Thats a first for me because before i moved here a year and 1/2 ago i lived in L.A. where I rarely went more than a couple weeks or so w/o a ride in the winter. Up here i couldn't ride for months at a time.
